A Marquesan marriage ceremony is steeped in the age-old tradition of Maohi culture. The couple is driven to an archaeological site where the master of ceremony awaits, dressed in traditional Marquesan attire. The ceremony unfolds to the sound of traditional drums, songs and dances. After this unforgettable union, the couple is taken through the village of Atuona accompanied by horsemen, before continuing on to the hotel where a bed of flowers and a fruit basket awaits in the bungalow.
